Indigo crisis hits Mumbai City hard, ISL side reaches Goa six hours before Super Cup semifinal

Mumbai City FC’s preparations for its AIFF Super Cup semifinal were disrupted after flight cancellations and delays linked to IndiGo Airlines affected travel across the country.
The Indian Super League (ISL) side was scheduled to travel to Goa from Mumbai on Wednesday, November 3, before its last-four clash against FC Goa on Thursday, but was stranded at the airport for over 12 hours due to its severely delayed flight.
Head coach Petr Kratky and midfielder Brandon Fernandes even did the designated pre-match media briefing from the airport at 4.30 p.m. The team ultimately reached Goa at 2 a.m. on matchday for the 8 p.m. kick-off.

“We were waiting at the airport from 11 am. We did our preparations, but unfortunately, these things happen. We were stuck in the airport, and it showed a little bit for the first 20-30 minutes because we came at 4 am,” revealed Kratky after his team’s narrow 1-2 loss.
“We were scheduled to fly at 12 pm, and the flight took off at 1 pm. We travel like this all the time after training in the morning, and it turned out to be a very long day,” he added.
Mumbai City made uncharacteristic errors in the opening 30 minutes, conceding two goals in three minutes, which ultimately cost the side. While it recovered in the second half, it couldn’t find the equaliser to avoid elimination.
“That’s why I am proud of the boys for what they did. We gave Goa a hard time. We tried every possible way to fix it [travel], but there was nothing that could be done. There was no other way to get here, and it was very difficult,” he added.
